the water warms up once you jump in
a chameleon in your own skin
laughing at your clothes growing smaller on the shore

my thoughts yeah they weigh a ton
lying out all week to blend into my sheets
spinning my arms for circulation
teach me buoyancy if it's all the same every week after week

we drifted out as far as we could go
like winding up at the lizard people videos
everything moving slow, i wonder what they found

we came home more drained than i planned
all of them like the coral reefs
i don't do well with nothing to do
so i just lay and wept in the summer night breeze
i'll sort it out eventually
it all comes back eventually
